Four Days on the Water An Adventure in Search of Hucho hucho

October 28th another adventure begins, this time with our guest Sakis from Greece.

Our journey started early in the morning. The first few hours passed without any action, but at around 10 a.m., everything changed. A truly magnificent fish took the lure, and Sakis was into a trophy sized Hucho hucho. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to land it. However, I was lucky enough to capture some footage of the fight, including the heartbreaking moment when the fish came off the hook.

The action wasn’t over. Shortly afterwards, another fish struck, but unfortunately, we missed that one too.

We continued fishing, and around 300 metres upstream, we came across a deep pool. Finally, a smaller Danube salmon took the lure, and this time we managed to land it. That was the moment our adventure truly began!

After a break, we returned to the river in the late afternoon. During the evening session, we experienced three strikes on hard lures before finally managing to land another beautiful fish.

Day 2

We started the morning without any action. However, the afternoon session, right around dusk, brought results, and we managed to land another fish.

After darkness fell, we had one more fish hooked, but it came off. Another strike followed, but unfortunately, we missed that one as well. And that was how our second day came to an end.

Day 3

We started fishing again, and after just one hour, we hooked another Hucho hucho, this time on a sponge based imitation of a bullhead. It was a beautiful moment, and we managed to capture some fantastic footage, including an underwater release.

The second fishing session brought no further action, but by the end of this adventure, we had managed to land four Hucho hucho in total.

And the story doesn’t end there!

Today, November 1st, I headed out to the river with some friends. Once again, we managed to land a beautiful fish, although I also lost one that came off the hook.

These are just a few highlights from the last four days on the water – four days filled with excitement, unforgettable moments, missed opportunities, beautiful fish and, above all, a passion for chasing the magnificent Danube salmon.
